KS3 English Mastery – Spotlight Year 7 Literature Students We are thrilled to share the exciting progress our Year 7 Literature students have made in their English lessons this week! They have been thoroughly engaged in analysing a section of the play 'Blood Brothers' where the Policeman's treatment of Mrs. Johnstone and Mr. Lyons starkly contrasts when discussing a crime involving Eddie and Mickey. The students began by immersing themselves in the play, gaining a deep understanding of the characters and their motivations. They then meticulously annotated the passage, looking closely at Russell's use of language AND structure. Then, using their annotations as a guide, they have skillfully constructed analytical paragraphs, ensuring they include all crucial elements (clear point, embed a quote, wider analysis, key word analysis, link back to the author) They have also made sure that they avoid using the word 'says' or 'shows' – these are banned words for Literature students! Well done Year 7!
