PTFA Cake Sale Reminder – Friday 9th October Dear Parents and Carers, Just a friendly reminder that it is 8AB and 8NJ's turn to support our PTFA Cake & Treat Sale this Friday, 9th October. If your child is in 8AB or 8NJ, we would be very grateful for any donations of shop-bought cakes, cookies or sweet treats. Due to allergen requirements, please ensure that all donated items remain in their original packaging, with the ingredients and allergen information clearly displayed. Please also encourage pupils across the school to bring some money to buy a treat on Friday. All money raised will go towards supporting school events and activities, including Prom. Every donation, big or small, is very much appreciated. Thank you for your continued support of the PTFA!

What an incredible morning we have had at school A huge thank you to Danny Butler and Great Athletes for joining us today and giving our students an experience to remember. Danny shared his incredible journey from being told he might never walk again, to becoming a European Champion, five-time British Elite Champion, UCI World #3 and proudly representing Team GB for over a decade. From the edge of the Peak District, to performing for the Queen at the Platinum Jubilee Pageant, his story is one of resilience, passion and determination. Our students took part in a fitness circuits, giving everyone the chance to get active, challenge themselves and experience the energy of a professional athlete-led session The day finished with an inspirational talk centred around Danny's powerful message: "Make as much effort as you can every day. Even if it's just a little bit." A brilliant reminder for our students. Thank you Danny, for sharing your story and inspiring our students and to Great Athletes for making this opportunity possible. A huge thank you also to everyone who supported the ongoing sponsorship fundraising! #GreatAthletes #Inspiration #Resilience #Determination #TeamGB #MakeAnEffort #ProudSchool

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Mrs Brennan, who retired from James Bateman in July after many years as our Leader of Modern Foreign Languages. Mrs Brennan will always be remembered for her incredible passion for languages, her love of teaching and the energy and enthusiasm she brought into the classroom. She was a much-loved and valued member of our school community. Although Mrs Brennan had recently retired, she remained very much a part of the James Bateman family. Her loss has left us devastated and she will be deeply missed by the staff, students both past and present and the wider school community. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with her family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. We send our love and support. Mrs Brennan will be greatly missed, but her passion, warmth and the incredible memories she created will remain with us. We were blessed to call her one of our own. Rest in peace Sarah.

HALF MARATHON COMPLETE! A huge well done to Mr Shaw, who has completed his first half marathon in an incredible 1:59:04! Going into the challenge, Mr Shaw genuinely thought he would be aiming for around 2:30:00. Just completing the 21.1km was going to be a huge achievement, so to not only finish but smash the 2 hour mark is an absolutely fantastic accomplishment! Finish time: 1:59:04 Distance: 21.1km Average pace: 5:39/km From thinking 2:30:00 would be a great result to crossing the finish line in 1:59:04... what an achievement! A brilliant example of what can happen when you challenge yourself, put the work in and refuse to give up. Super work, Mr Shaw! #TeamBateman #BatemanBlueprint #HalfMarathon
