James Bateman Middle School is part of the Creative Learning Partnership Trust.  The trust is governed by a Board of Trustees and further information about the trust can be found here.   

The school has its own Board of Governors who have overall responsibility for the effective management of the school. The governing body members are drawn from the community, parents and staff and serve for a period of four years. Throughout the year, the Governors hold a series of meetings and deal with a wide variety of matters relating to the school.

Chair’s Introduction

As the Chair of Governors, I am delighted to welcome you to the James Bateman Middle School website.

As a Governing Body, we have three core responsibilities:

• Setting the strategic direction – along with the Head Teacher set the schools' aims and objectives as to how the school will develop and improve.
• Ensure robust accountability – support and challenge the school’s senior leadership team.
• Ensure the funding that the school receives is well spent.

We work in partnership with the headteacher and the school staff, taking an active interest in the direction of travel and the improvement plans for the school, as well as financial monitoring.  We do not get involved in the day-to-day operation of the school, as this is the responsibility of the school leadership and the teaching staff.

We are delighted that our recent Ofsted inspection resulted in our school retaining our rating of ‘Good’.  This demonstrates the dedication and commitment by all staff in our school.  As a Governing Body, we will continue to work alongside the senior leadership team to build on this success and commit to a plan of improvement for the learning outcomes of all our pupils in which we aspire to become ‘outstanding’.
