Year 6
Welcome to Year 6
My name is Mrs Finch and I am the Progress Leader for Year 6, a very important year for our students because of the statutory tests (SATs) that they will take in the Summer Term.
The Year 6 team aim to make the year as stress-free as possible and ensure that pupils are well-supported, both academically and emotionally, as they prepare for the SATs.
We set weekly homework that is completed in Homework Books – a Homework Club is in operation each lunchtime for those pupils who prefer not to do it at home.
In Year 6, we take great pride in our students’ achievements and take every opportunity to celebrate them with our Star of the Week certificates, Special Mentions Assemblies and end of half-term rewards. This year we have been running a raffle alongside these celebrations.
Year 6 have many activities to look forward to including: The Christmas Extravaganza, Secret Santa, Form Assemblies, visits from an animal expert, curriculum-based museum visits and local walks and adventures. We also make sure that they are well and truly rewarded for all the effort that we know they will put into their SATs, with a special celebration at the end of test week.
In addition to all of this, Year 6 pupils have the opportunity to visit Blue Peris – an outdoor adventure centre in the heart of Wales which proved very popular and extremely successful last year because of activities such as gorge walking, sea level traversing and much more.
Year 6 marks the end of the primary school years for our students and we begin to see them making great strides in all aspects of their school lives, as they prepare for a more secondary school setting and beyond.
